Our Story

Welcome to First Year Nursing! My name is Kerry (BSN, RN) and once upon a time I was a "first year nurse." I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and after completing my undergraduate education, I worked as a cardiac telemetry nurse in Boston, Massachusetts and then as a cardiology triage nurse on Cape Cod.

For the first 6 months of working as a new grad nurse, I would walk into work and almost every shift I would encounter a new procedure, condition, treatment, or patient and during orientation I experienced many different nurses’ approaches to training the new grad…  🤔 🤯 😳

Without a close friend ahead of me to pave the way and provide encouragement and advice on how to be a new nurse, First Year Nursing was inspired! I wanted to take this opportunity to share the things I would have liked to know going into my first year of nursing.

On this blog, you will stay updated on all my favorite nursing trends, nurses to follow, and tips and insights about the nursing field to help YOU in your nursing journey! ❤️‍🩹

Xx
